Life/$00$le/B-$chool$
Been a while since I’ve blogged about my personal/professional life, or whatever of it that I can make sense of. Currently am in a job that allows me to do what I like best - Read a lot, Talk a lot and finally, Write a lot and top it all, they do pay me something
LOL…It ain’t like its so cliched, but basically its this
…. The best part of this is that I can continue to read more of my regular tech haunts
And as usual, a lot of news has been about google and apple. With Intel based Macs now out, it should be good fun to see how the PC shapes up…And for once, google’s not in news for a new product, but for yet another PR coup !! I find the whole debate on parting with search info pretty cut-off since out here, we still are in the hinterlands when it comes to legislative regulations on the web. Considering Google too, like all others, has rolled the red carpet for the red dragon’s internet task force and censor pages on Taiwan and stuff like Tiananmen, I chuckle at google’s lesser evil theory ! More *real* evil can be brought as a result of something that was confirmed just now
Anyways….Its been real fun watching the placement releases of various B-schools that keep dropping in @ PG….Seems every school is now in a race this year to have the first digit of the average pay packet as a 7, although I am yet to ascertain if the companies are really acquiescing to the same
While on the one hand it seems funny, it also speaks volumes of a lotta other stuff. It speaks of how much weightage schools believe the whole *average* figure has. And yea, before I forget, the trend also seems to suggest that most schools wanna project themselves as “consulting” friendly
My Alma mater (sic) is still wrapping up their placement process. I am waiting to see if they too will bite the bullet and give the magic six figure starting with a seven for the seven hundred odd people there.. THAT should be something

Tech affects?
I learnt something very interesting today. There’s this aunt of mine whom we had recently gifted a what I thought was a pretty basic cam phone (a SE t610). Nothing too great about the phone. Just the regular stuff, polyphonic, an ugly cam and the basics. Now, she so happens to be a teacher in one of the municipality schools in absolute hinterland of AP. A pretty small village where the entire school of a few dozen students is usually taught together. Where the two teachers need to dole out incentives for the kids to attend school, and the likes. She told me something that struck me real hard today. She now uses the phone’s cam as a motivator for ‘em kids and that really seems to work. The kids are now in a race to finish off their work at the earliest, so they can have their two moments of cheer captured, albeit for a short period of time. They now have that much more enthu to come down to school and be shot. Yes, agreed, this is not gonna be a long-term or even short-term measure..But it sure speaks volumes on how what can be a small step for us urban-city dwellers can effect someone somewhere in ways unthought of. Beats me why none of India’s famed highIQ folks have never been able to come up with technology that can have a real effect on the rural kids.

New Year & New Blog :)
PG’s previous blogging s/w (MT) had gone kaput after a recent server move and thus the change to Wordpress…WP looks damn neat and installing plugins is a clean and neat affair..Although I am still trying to set up a decent theme for the blog, and do some assorted theme editing. Quite some stuff happening around this time both personally and at work. Its been a mixed experience of sorts, but neverthless, a lotta learning involved. Shall update shortly on the same. In the meanwhile, Shall appreciate any inputs regarding the theme
