Whoa ! One has to sympathize with people that are subjected to T H I S level of psychological torture….Security is good, fool-proof security is even better….But stretching things beyond a point such as implementing the kind of passwords that ADP did there or by injecting RFID chips into your bloodstream, particularly when one doesn’t even need to travel to the Soviet Russia for handheld RFID scanners ;) It is stuff like these that make people paranoid about online security. In their attempts at ensuring redundancies built-in to the system, companies seem to forget that at end of the day, its a human being that has to endure it all ;)

Blame Zarine for this one-off post. She wants me to key in 8 things about my prospective life-partner…Tough ask indeed for she knows the position I am in ;) Anyways, here goes….

1) An ability to listen…..Of critical importance, for I have an overarching ability to crap. Period.

2) An ability to snap back….Yes…I am human and I do make mistakes…And I would expect her to point ‘em out to be up-front rather than dilly-dally about it….I might snap back too…But i usually resemble a ruminating animal when it comes to thoughts/ideas/inputs ;)

3) Understands the fact that agreeing to disagree isn’t as bad as disagreeing and cribbing about it to eternity

4) She really shouldn’t hesitate to do what she feels for want of scaring/disappointing/terrifying/frightening me….There’s always a first time and learning is a continuous process, for both…. :)

5) She should appreciate my take on all things money…And yea its pretty simple…Spending money is just as enlightening as making and saving it…Only when you spend will you get a hang of it…Ofcourse, that doesn’t mean……well…you know what…handing the purse strings to her ;)

6) She shouldn’t ask me about my interests or my opinion on *a* specific person…I tend to stay as far as possible from, in MBA parlance, the halo effect…So obviously, i tend not to have a general opinion on anyone, but only specific opinions on specific issues wrt a specific person…Convoluted? u bet :p

7) And if its not too much of an ask, she should be just as affectionate forever as she is _________ ;)

8) And yea, very important…Were she a blogger, she shouldn’t put me in a corner with such tags !!! ;)

 And now tangential payback time…. I shall only tag guys since only they can appreciate that this tag is a pain ;)

{Scampers away before Zarine can catch hold}

Allwin, Apurv, Jonas and Vishy . Plis to amuse me & thyself ;)

Now whoever says gaming doesn’t help. I beg to differ, atleast this one instance. Red Herring is running an interview with Ivan Marovic, one of the architects of the Otpor youth movement in Yugoslavia, that was responsible for overthrowing Milosevic. They will always be remembered for their non-violent approach to regime change. Be it their spray paints or street plays, they sure have become a symbol of sorts for youth across many countries. And now Marovic has come up with a strategy game that teaches gamers how to try changing governments through peaceful means. While I am yet to see the game firsthand…If nothing else, i thought that was atleast an attempt at injecting something useful through games. I was thinking of this issue more after reading how a bunch of professors, gaming programmers and software company execs were sharing a ride on the high seas trying to figure out how to make gaming more pervasive in the classroms and how to make sure the students learn more out of ‘em…..Sure, bring ‘em all and more aboard. But I’d rather see a piece of software that *really* makes learning interesting, rather than a FPS where one can get to count body bones ;)
