Hmm..Is it just me or is VoIP back bigtime now, albeit as a money spinner. The last time I blogged about Skype, things were at a high for that market. Last few days, there has been quite some noise from a coupla players. One’s a new startup called Jajah and the other’s good ‘ol grand-daddy of ‘em internet portals, Lycos. Interestingly, both follow a new kind of value addition. While Jajah, lets you use your regular landlines to call other countries, Lycos goes a step further and gives you a local US number that is tied to your user account on the software. I have tried out Lycos and so far, it sure does seem to work without a glitch. Jajah- blame the Indian populace. We’ve already used all the trial minutes that they have allocated for this country ;) Anyways. I sure thought it was interesting to see varying thoughts coming into play in this market and how marketers wanna survive on under 1cent calls !!

Meanwhile, at another plane, the merger of Alcatel & Lucent is sure creating a ripple effect in the telecom equipment industry that has seen worse times. With paranoid American administration trying to do its best to ensure the spread of unbridled capitalism or whatever they feel it is and blocking deals by foreign industrial groups, it sure is interesting to see modern day insularity at play !

And at yet another plane, do give the PaGaLGirL a dekko. They are running a couple of very well thought out interviews with working women. And their forum too seems to be going great guns. Good show  Sowmya :)

And you thought Google Finance was just another offering from the g00gle staple….Think again…The Fools have covered a lot of ground on why they think its a watershed moment for ‘em mountain view scientists !! While I don’t agree with it completely, however, their recent acquisition of Writely sure does suggest they do have some broader integration plans….And yea, talking of writely, Lemme suggest a much niftier application in case you are a firefox fan and are looking for an online word replacement - AjaxWrite. Pretty nifty app that ! (disclaimer: Still waiting for google’s invite to check Writely)

Hmm….Life’s a bitch…Some of the folks @ g00gle must have realized over the last few weeks…Unlike their previous analyst day when they had their chief chef (yea, in case you dint know that, it ain’t a typo!) wax eloquent on the lunch for the day, this year was probably much sober considering the beating the stock took after its CFO said what was pretty much a fact- search engine advertising slowing down. Anyways, now people are counting on g00gle hitting $100billion in sales !!! Like Redherring so very rightly pointed out, corporate marketing messages cant really come any cheaper ;)

Meanwhile, am having some good fun *analysing* stuff of a different nature….Understanding first hand how a conservative Taiwanese VP can slow down innovation happening in mainland US…..Confusing people on how global competencies is basically a buncha crap…..Humoring myself seeing the placement reports of various B-schools and wondering if this is seriously India !! LMAO seeing some of the posts on this thread, which, btw, is to announce the arrival of PaGaLGiRl.com. And yea, say hi to paranoia !!!
