<-->I Blog<-->Google Launch<-->I Blog<-->
Work’s been keeping me slightly busy of late. However, the interesting part of the work has been the sides of technology that I was exposed to. Discussing next generation display technologies that curve/fold and don’t need any lighting sure is more a pleasure than a pain
And g00gle’s product launches/acquisitions have become as frequent as my blog posts ! Calendar is next in line and as of now, definitely looks swell. Been wanting a good online calendar that would integrate well with my email for a while now. Y! sure did have one but with the amount of ads and the clumsy interface, it was a pain…If Y! doesn’t invite me pretty soon to their email beta, I am pretty close to switching over to gmail as primary email soon
And it sure takes google that much closer to a complete portal, which many have been wondering, if, and when, it will take place….And that sure is big sign for Y! and M$ to sit up and take notice… An umbrella interface isn’t the only characteristic of a portal, you sure can have one with multiple entry points, and yet have an unassuming look… ![]()

I dont know Subbu, attimes I am pretty unhappy with the kind of stuff that Google comes up with! Attimes the gmail gets so confusing when some of the spam get attached to usual messages & you cant get rid of them!
And talking about google for a whole portal, nah, I dont think they will ever get around doing it! I think that’s there point of distinction, to differentiate from MSN & the likes. And they surely need to go beyond the Ad words to make their $ now, with all search engines becoming better with their *searches*.. Google should not become all hype & no substance! They seem to lack the complete business model kinda look.. yeah, they are doing amazing in terms of individual items.. say GNews etc.. but its time they pulled it all together & made it more robust! And I think their Page rank Technology is kinda waning out too..
And why am I so against Google today.. LOLz, I think they are an awesome firm to work for.. but they still need to get their act together, before they lose out to bigger players… What if tomorrow Microsoft comes up with a desktop search engine which doesnt even want me to open a browser..

Good thoughts there Sowmya
g00gle sure has created a must-work-firm image around it, but it surely could do with a few black suits around…Stories abound on how MBAs there are looked down upon
Gmail..Hmm…haven’t really been troubled so far….is it due to any possible harvesting outta ur blog..mebbe u might need to put that in text there…
Abt the portal….Mebbe we need to redefine the thought of a portal…MSN/Y! look just fine and mebbe we’ve gotten used to such portals. But with multiple google domains delivering similar content, and slowly, but definitely, integrating thro’ google accounts, I don’t really think we are way off from a day when google can* come with a *typical* portal…But yes, I just don’t see the compelling reason for that as long as they still work just fine…
Yes, revenue streams, they are just as much a pain for google as they are for pg

Hi.. Ya i agree to Simba.. its high time Google organized everything in one place..i understand they have being denying in the past that they want to be a portal like Y! or MSN but its becoming increasingly difficult to use all that they offer..I use Gmail Personalized page,Google Reader, Gmail and now having a look at Calendar..And I want all of them in one palce..

Hmmm..Shashank, Are you sure you want everything in one roof?? I am much better off using services like netvibes that offer me a lot more and thats where I like google with their open standards so I could just pull my content over to the page I feel suits me best…
